Today's guest is Laura LaSuertmer, a writer, community organizer, and mental health professional based in Bloomington, Indiana. Laura serves as the Assistant Creative Director and Outreach Coordinator for the Bloomington chapter of Women Writing for (a) Change. Since joining the staff in 2021, she has facilitated creative writing circles for diverse groups, including students at The Academy of Science and Entrepreneurship, clients at Stone Belt, and individuals incarcerated at the Monroe County Jail. Her writing often explores themes of community, social justice, and land connection. She recently received her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling, integrating therapeutic awareness and multicultural competencies into her community facilitation work.
